Boarding Gate Concert

I was on my way to Washington DC via the Midway airport at 5:30 a.m., and there was a concert going on across from my boarding gate. Three singers wearing Army side caps were singing old-timey songs in front of a full house audience in the waiting area. A whole bunch of people in orange shirts pushing wheelchairs were gathering at the concert, and I asked a lady wearing a green shirt what it was all about.

Honor Flight Chicago Concert

Cherry Blossom Festival in the City

When I was visiting Japan, a friend from the US who is living in Tokyo had planned to take me to an Indian restaurant. I suppose he was looking forward to this meal because he was a bit tired of Japanese food. It was cold and I did not bring enough covering for the unexpectedly cold air. By the time we walked to the very small restaurant at dusk, it was 7:30p.m. and the restaurant would not have a table for us until 9:00p.m. So we walked on. My friend was hoping to find a good Italian restaurant, but I requested to settle on the first noodle place we passed since it was dark and I was cold and hungry. The dinner was not so tasty. Tokyo-style soup broths are really not as good as Osaka ones; they’re just a bunch of soy sauces.

We started to walk back to my hotel and had gone about four blocks when all of a sudden a street filled with rows of cherry trees in full bloom, their blossoms light up for the night, appeared in front of us. « Read the rest of this entry »

Why Not Have Fun?

Closeup of Puma on DeskOur shipping clerk invited me to see his work station as soon as I came back from a long trip on Monday.   I was busy getting caught up, and he invited me again the second day.  Funny that his station is only 15 steps away from my office but I did not get a chance to take a look at it until this morning, Friday.  He used our pattern Caress to cover his table top and carved out the Puma logo on the lower right side.   He upholstered his drawer also.  How fun.  He likes fashion. « Read the rest of this entry »
